Across four brands, I built a Middleman static-site system for the iCongo-to-Hybris migration, and a Ruby gem that let merchandising teams drive product and pricing data from Google Sheets.

Shopify
I shaped Shopify’s free-theme platform for more than two million merchants.
I set Dawn (opens in a new tab)’s technical direction, shipped Express in five weeks, and led a team of 12 frontend developers. I was also one of six people governing the API of Liquid (opens in a new tab), Shopify’s template language, alongside the CEO.

Loess
I turned two themes into a profitable two-person business.
As sole engineer, I cut the second build from roughly a year to four months while the company averaged about US$25K in monthly revenue, peaking at US$35K.

Archetype Themes
I collapsed a portfolio of separate themes into one shared platform.
Devkit combined reusable Liquid components, Shopify CLI tooling, and a design system built for accessibility, performance, and reuse.

Pixel Union
I rebuilt in four months what took a team two years.
Archetype merged into Pixel Union under Tiny and I kept leading engineering. With full product ownership I rewrote Devkit end to end — CLI plugin, VS Code extension, Liquid renderer, and 49 frontend primitives — by building my whole workflow around AI.

What’s next
I want my work to be the reason a small team can ship like a big one.
The domain doesn’t matter to me — I’ll learn it. What matters is that it’s built for the web, that the people are sharp enough to argue well and decent enough to make that fun, and that I come out the other side knowing things I don’t now.
